hi everyone!! this is squirt. he is three years old and he’s a very beloved emotional support animal. since he came into our lives, he has been a huge help with my fiancee’s depression and PTSD. he’s the sweetest cat i’ve ever met.
he is also very sick. over this past weekend, we noticed that his breathing was very labored and that he was lethargic; he wasn’t eating or playing with our other cat. when the breathing difficulty persisted, we decided to take him to the vet.
after getting him x-rayed, we were told that squirt has a “diffuse mixed pulmonary pattern…characterized by multiple coalescing rounded soft-tissue opaque nodules with a concurrent bronchial and unstructured interstitial pattern”. basically, there’s something in his lungs that’s making it hard for him to breathe.
the vet believes he has either fungal pneumonia, toxoplasmosa, mycoplasma, or immune mediated pulmonary disease. they would like to hospitalize him and run the proper tests to get him diagnosed (and eventually treated). unfortunately, we cannot afford the cost of the tests. we were able to get him some medication that is going to keep him comfortable, but these meds will not make him better.
here is the current cost estimate for his care we were given by our vet (5/17/2021):
we were told by the vet that he has a chance at a long life if we can pull the money together to get him treated. he has brought so much comfort into my fiancee’s life and made them so happy. if we cannot pay to take care of his medical needs, we will need to put him down.
we have started a gofundme to cover the cost of his diagnostic tests and initial treatments. our current fundraising goal is $5,500. these funds are going towards Squirt’s diagnosis–we are likely going to have to update this page with an increased amount depending on what the diagnosis actually is. (for instance, if it’s fungal pneumonia, we’ve been told that therapy to treat it can be expensive as well.) additional information we were given from our vet is posted on the gofundme page.

if you have been active on twitter, you may already know #savemyanmar is trending. long story short, there has been a military coup. several nations have released statements but i want to share insight on what’s happening in the country.
memes about a coup have been circulating around for a couple days and when i slept at 2 am last night, we were still under the rule of the National League for Democracy (NLD). while they are not technically democratic, they are the closest we’ve got. when my mother woke up at 6 this morning, she was notified that the country was now under the rule of the military.
banks services are no longer available. wifi was cut at around 7-8. some people got wifi again earlier but many got it barely thirty minutes ago. this is bad for businesses especially ones that require international communications. additionally, international students like myself are experiencing anxiety; how do we pay for and attend classes if we’re not sure wifi is a given?
myanmar has a long, complicated history with military governments. the last time the military went into rule was in 1962 and only stopped in 2011, following the 2010 elections. there was a huge protest in 1988 lead by students that resulted in lots of death. during the military junta, resources like rice, water, oil, were scarce. the gist is military rule is bad for us.
all of my followers are not myanmar citizens, i’m sure but as part of the international community, please help us. here is a petition that you can sign (although i’m not sure if that can do much). there may be protests in front of myanmar embassies so look out for those. most of all, please help spread awareness.

No you guys this post helped me find my cat. He was missing for almost a month and I’ve had him for over 12 years. After seeing this I put his favorite blanket he always slept on outside hoping he would smell mine or his scent and he was back the next fucking day asleep on it.
When my cat got out, we called and called for him, and then, later that night, I remembered similar advice to this, and so put his little scratching pad, which he adores, on the front porch. Not even half an hour later, I heard a thump, opened the door, and there was his big butt, meowing at me.

Ok, just pulled into a fire station.
Word of advice, if someone tries to flag you down on a highway, pointing to the back of your car, there isn’t anything wrong. They want to kill you. Never stop for them.
They may try to pin you in a lane on the highway. They won’t let you get ahead of them, they will try to prevent you from getting behind them. Fuck traffic laws. Gun it, throw on your brakes, honk your horn and do not stop. get away from them at all costs. Don’t go home, go to the police or go to a fire station. Explain what happened and have them look over ur car.

I was on the I-5 in Washington State. The van was white, with blacked out windows. There was graffiti or something on the right side of the van, but I was too scared to read it.
Everyone please be safe, if you are in the Puyallup or Tacoma area, please be even more careful.
If you need to pull over, if possible, take the nearest exit and park somewhere well lit with people around. Gas stations, other 24/7 locations.
If a cop’s got their lights on and are trying to pull you over, put your hazards on, pull to the right lane, and slowly drive somewhere public. You can use your cell to call 911, confirm it’s really a cop behind you, reassure the operator you’re just pulling over somewhere safe because you don’t trust the shoulder of the highway etc.
This happened to my mom in DC in the 70’s.
A strange man was watching her pump gas at the station and she noticed him driving behind her afterwards.
She experimented to be sure he was following her. She made a random right and then left turn and he kept up.
So, when she got to her homestreet she kept driving and desperately looked for a gas station where she was friendly with the guys there.
A group a black guys she knew in passing worked there.
Well, once she got there, she said she hopped out of the care in a panic and told them what was happening… So at least three of them went out front and yelled “HEY, MAN!” and the guy sped off.
But it’s not over yet. They told my mom to hang out for awhile because the man could still be lurking. Since one of them would be getting off soon and would follow to make sure (the knew his make and model and the plates).
Sure enough…
The man WAS waiting a little ways down the road at a grocery store to start following again… Dude honked a cut a fuss and again he sped off.
My mom went to the police station afterwards (the gas station dud vouched for her and gave a description of the guy). So BOTH cars followed my mom home and the station sent a care out to watch her apartment that night.
My mom never saw that guy that was following her again, but she is certain he was determined to do her harm at her apartment.
Guys, if a car follows you:
DO NOT GO HOME!
GO TO THE NEAREST POLICE STATION/FIRE STATION!
This has been happening a lot more recently in the Seattle/Tacoma area
If you can’t get to one of these, get your ass to a liquor store. Thanks to robbery and drunk folks, people who work at liquor stores know exactly how to put the place on lockdown and the cops will get there damn fast if they’re called.
